Share Tanzania operates in rural Tanzania, in the foot hills of mount Kilimanjaro. We began in 2014 from humble beginnings.
Here at Share Tanzania we believe that a solution to many of the issues we see ourselves and others facing on earth, lay in the simple action of sharing. Sharing our time, resources, love and ideas can help to heal a great deal in this world.
Our Mission Statement is clear, to ensure children in crisis find a safe, and loving home.
The main focus of our work is in keeping children with families in Tanzania wherever possible, with a children's fund supporting over 1,000 children, we are indeed thankfully achieving that goal.
Having visited Uchira in 2013, our founder John wanted to do something about the terrible situation he saw some children enduring in the area.
Many of those children had been driven into child labour in some form or another to provide for themselves, some in mines some in quarries or working in the fields, all of which is extremely hard work. Children work for very little pay whilst doing so... Many were managing to just a say provide for themselves with the basics of flour and beans to live off.
Many other promising and bright children, sat idol as parents frantically looked for ways to earn the money to pay school fees.
Initially starting with a fund for education, housing and medical care, in time we began to receive children who were homeless, or abandoned and orphaned who could not find a suitable guardian or family.
None more so than those children living with special needs. In time this gave way to Featherstale Children's Village and Angels Gate Home For Street involved boys. Where along side the children we support in the community we became a guardian and more importantly a family for over 100 beautiful children who had none...
